#2 – CLUB & TRIFECTA

At all of our races we designate an official race hike. If you complete the hike within 72 hours of finishing the race and send us a picture of you at the summit with your bib and finisher medal, you are inducted into that hike’s “club” and get 50% OFF next year’s race entry! This is one of the ways we challenge our runners to get out there and explore the beauty of the park. It would be a shame to come all the way just to run a race in a beautiful place without experiencing some of that beauty up close.

Last year we had The Rainbow Club – a boat ride up the lake and a short hike to Rainbow Bridge. We will have the Rainbow Club hike as our official race hike again this year. We are also thinking about adding a second club hike option. Any suggestions?

We are also introduced a new challenge last year: The Trifecta Challenge. The Lake Powell Trifecta is comprised of 3 different activities. You must complete all 3 in order to complete the Trifecta. Same rules apply: take your picture at each of the 3 with your bib and finisher medal and send them to us 72 hours after finishing the race. Those who complete the Trifecta will receive 20% OFF next year’s race entry!

The Trifecta is meant to be challenging, but less strenuous. These are iconic activities inside or around the park that should be experienced, but are doable with children. A more family friendly challenge, I guess. A sort of activity scavenger hunt. The 3 activities that makeup the Trifecta are:

1) Horseshoe Bend – Horseshoe Bend is a breathtaking overlook at the Colorado River flowing from Lake Powell towards the Grand Canyon. It is a short drive outside of Page (just over 4 miles south) and just a 3/4 mile hike to the overlook! It is such a great thing to see. Seriously, if you come all the way to Lake Powell and don’t go see it, it would be a real waste.

2) Swim in the lake – this one is simple. Jump in the lake. Just go for a swim! Go cool off! The water is still warm this time of year, so go enjoy it. Remember, your bib and finisher medal need to be visible in the picture! Don’t worry, the bibs are water proof. :)

3) Visit The Dam – Take a dam picture. We recommend the dam tour, but even if you don’t take the tour you should go visit the dam! This picture needs to be of you on the dam.

We will post more details on each of these soon, but for now we just want you to be aware of these awesome and fun challenges and we hope you make them a part of your vacation.
