Announcing Our Virtual Race Series!

We’re so excited to announce our new race series, Virtual Races. Some of you may have run in our Virtual Turkey Trot in November. This new series is built around that model, but with more races and more prizes.

Our Virtual Race series starts on April 22, 2014 with our Earth Day 5K and 10K, followed by our Memorial Day Run in May, Freedom Run in July, National Park Service Birthday Run in August, Turkey Trot in November and Resolution Run on New Year’s Eve and Day! We’ll have more details available for the later races soon.

The concept for these races is to offer a flexible alternative to organized races and events. You run the race wherever you’d like (your favorite local running trail, your neighborhood) and report your times back to us. Our prizes are awarded, not for speed, but for a variety of things, some of which are holiday-themed. A few examples are “First to report your time,” “Most festive picture,” and “Oldest Runner.” We’ll post each race’s prize categories to their respective pages.

Your registration will come with a shirt. The shirts won’t be a technical shirt, these will be a 60/40 blend, soft, comfortable fit t-shirt. And, as with all of our shirts, the design will be great. We’re particularly excited about the design for our Earth Day shirt.

Once you’ve reported your time to us, we’ll send your finisher medal in the mail. We’re still working on the design for these, so check back for updates. Everyone that reports their time will get a finisher medal, but the prizes will be more selective.

Our hope is that these races encourage you to get out there and run, while enjoying the competition of a race. Training for a marathon or a half? Run one of our 5K/10K Virtual Races as a way to make your training run a little more rewarding! We want you to celebrate these holidays with us and be a part of our Vacation Races community, no matter where you are.
