Due to a conflict with the Grizzly Century Bike Race in Bass Lake, we’re having to make a quick date change for our inaugural Yosemite Half Marathon. The race will now be on October 10, 2015. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this change might have anyone.
We spent months working with the local tourism department and researching running races, but weren’t made aware of this race until after we announced the October 3rd date. We talked with the race organizers to see if we could work with the original date, but much of the course is the same and they’ve been putting on this race for 22 years. We felt it was best to move our race to the following weekend.
There are some benefits to having the race on October 10. Hotels will likely be easier to book (though we still recommend you book as soon as possible). Also, the chains should still be up on Half Dome, assuming there is no unexpected weather changes.
For 2016 and beyond, we will likely change the weekend when we hold this race, we are looking at options both in the Spring and Fall, but for 2015 the race will be held on Saturday, October 10. This is going to be a great event!
