Club and Trifecta

yosemite-clubs-web-tempSince we can’t run the Yosemite Half Marathon within park boundaries, it’s incredibly important to us that our runners spend part of their weekend in the park itself. This is the case for all of our races, which is why we like to have an official race hike at each of our races. For Zion it’s Angels Landing, for Grand Canyon it’s Skeleton Point, etc. Those who complete the hike 72 hours after finishing the half marathon will receive 50% off the following year’s registration! We’re looking for an iconic and challenging hike that’s doable after running a half marathon. Once we’ve decided, we’ll post it here. If you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them!

In addition to a club hike, we like to include a three-part trifecta challenge. It will be made up of 3 different activities, which focus more on you experiencing the park rather than doing one big hike. You must complete all 3 activities 72 hours after finishing the race. If you complete the Trifecta you will receive 20% OFF next year’s race entry!

We’re looking for challenging, but less strenuous activities. Each section of the three-part challenge is iconic to the park, but doable with children. We’re doing our research and will publish details once we’ve finalized the activities. We’re open to suggestions, if you have any!

  • The hike should be up to Upper Yosemite Falls. It is challenging, very doable. It is about 7 to 8 miles round trip. Maybe do a treasure hunt along the trail.

  • My first thought for a day hike after a half marathon was Vernal Falls. It’s not too difficult of a hike, however, it’s a lot of climbing. My next thought was the big trees. Mariposa Grove would be perfect. The hike to Wawona Point is beautiful and a great way to see the trees. However, I just read online that parts of the grove will be closed at times so I’m not sure we would be able to hike there. Chilnuala Fall looks like a nice hike too. Any hike is a good hike in Yosemite.

  • I’m ecstatic to not only visit my favorite place on earth, but to combine it with my new found passion for running & a post run challenge for a discount in 2016?! My perfect trifecta! Keep the news a’comin & thanks for pulling this epic event together. =) Sarah
