We are celebrating Rocky Mountain National Park’s 100th birthday with a virtual race in September! We know everyone who loves this beautiful park might not be able to visit in person this year, but with a virtual race you can celebrate from anywhere. Whether you are visiting the park that week or are stuck at home just dreaming of the park, we hope you will run with us.

Today’s technology allows us to “run together”, without demanding that we all be in the same place at the same time. Virtual Races provide runners the opportunity to participate in an awesome race event from wherever they are! There is a definitive window to complete the race, but you select when and where you want to run.
The race will be held on September 1-September 7th (RMNP was dedicated on Sept 4, 1915). All race times MUST be reported by Midnight PDT on Sept 7th to be included in the awards and giveaways. The course is whatever you choose! It is up to you to measure out the distance. The official race distances are a 5K, 10K & Half Marathon.

We are working on the artwork for the race. A shirt and medal are included with registration. You can save money by opting out of the shirt medal or both. All registered runners who report their time will be eligible for awards.

Running a virtual race is simple. Here is a step by step guide to participate!
STEP 1: REGISTER FOR THE RACE
When you register, you will have the option to choose whether you want a shirt or a medal or both. Opting out of either will save you money! We’ll post a registration link to this page once registration is open!
STEP 2: TRAIN FOR THE RACE
You should train for a virtual race just like any other running event.
STEP 3: RECEIVE RACE SHIRT IN THE MAIL
Once you register, we will send out your race shirt within a couple weeks.
STEP 4: SELECT YOUR COURSE
You can review our recommended trails, or go exploring and find your own.
STEP 5: RUN
If you run in the park, you must NOT run with a group of more than 25 without a permit. You are subject to all of the park rules and regulations and will be responsible for any fines issued by the National Park Service. If you have questions, just find your nearest park ranger for help!
Please be considerate of others on the trails. Make sure to track your run so you can report it later.
STEP 6: PARTICIPATE ON SOCIAL MEDIA
The #RMNP100VR hashtag should be used when tweeting or instagramming. Make sure to use it when you post pictures! We will compile all the pictures into an awesome slideshow every so often and you don’t want to be left out.
STEP 7: REPORT
Don’t forget to report your time! You must report your time to receive your race medal. Posting on social media does not count as reporting. You must use our form.
The video below can help you better understand how to run a virtual race.
[nzs_heading heading=”5″] awards [/nzs_heading]
We will be giving out awards and prizes as part of the race. You must report your time before September 7th in order to be eligible to win. Keep in mind, we don’t award the fastest times, but we reward other things. Most of the prizes only require you to report your time. However, a few of the prizes require you to post a photo to instagram, twitter using the hashtag #RMNP100VR or to our facebook page. We will post the awards as we get closer to the race.
