Service Project & Fundraiser – Help Build a Hogan

Our Navajo friends in Page, AZ need additional labor to build some hogans and we’re organizing a group service project at the end of August to accomplish this. This is a great opportunity to say thank you and give back to the community where we get to run around Lake Powell, and we hope you can join us!

Along with the service project will be a group run, as well as some food and entertainment- we’ll have more details about all of that soon. Additionally, everyone who comes out to volunteer will receive credit for a free entry to any of our half marathons or any of our ultras distances (under 100 Mile)!

When is it? August 27-29, 2020 - you can choose which day(s) you come out and help.

Where is it? The project will take place in Page, AZ on reservation land. We’ll have exact directions for anyone who signs up as we get closer to the event.

What is it? We will be helping to construct a few hogans. This will require a variety of tasks, from stripping wood to layering mud. No experience is necessary, just be ready for some manual labor.

What else can I do to help? If you aren’t already aware, COVID-19 has hit the Navajo Nation really hard. Most communities on the reservation lack basic access to things like grocery stores creating the need to travel to border towns to secure staples. In fact, up to 60% of homes on the reservation lack even running water. We are currently accepting donations for the Navajo Heritage Foundation through Wander Project. Donations will go to support the delivery of basic and essential items like water, food  and hygiene items. If you are able, please consider donating!

**Please be sure to leave a note in the comments when you checkout letting us know your donation is for the Navajo Heritage Foundation.
