First, a big ‘Thank You’ for your interest in our Costa Rica Global Adventure. We love hosting and meeting new smiling faces on each adventure. Normal years keep us busy mapping the best trail runs, booking accommodations that immerse you in natural surroundings, and ensuring we hook you up with the tastiest local dining options. COVID has made that process a bit more complex, but things are looking good!
You stuck by us and the many changes 2020 served up, and we promise to continue providing updates on our events as information becomes available. Right now, we feel confident that the 2021 Costa Rica Global Adventures will happen. We’d be more surprised if they didn’t happen (psst...this means it’s a great time to sign up for one of the trips if you haven’t already).2/3/21 - UPDATE 1: Costa Rica is open and seeking tourism. Over the holidays, some Vacation Races staff and family visited Costa Rica and were able to safely travel illness-free to and from the country. Public health precautions help make this possible. Face coverings are still required in public and indoor settings, and business capacity is limited. We’ll outline additional restrictions below.
While much of the world has seen a surge in cases over the winter, Costa Rica has held fairly stable and saw a decline in case numbers for the month of January. We are optimistic that by our trip dates in August and September, numbers will remain low with the distribution of vaccines to the broader population and warmer temperatures (much like they did in 2020).
"Costa Rica is open and seeking tourism."
Even with our confidence and optimism, 2020 has taught us that nothing is certain. If we need to cancel or reschedule either of these trips, all registered runners will receive specific information outlining their options at that time. We’ve got your back. To reference our complete COVID related refund policy, please visit the Global Adventures page.
To be transparent and keep everyone as best informed as possible, we are going to err on the side of overcommunication. The last thing we want is for you to miss any important updates. Right now, we are confident these events will happen. If anything changes, we will update this blog.
In the meantime, we are hosting a Facebook Live with Gerhard Linear, our Local Partner, in Costa Rica on February 10 at 5:00 PM (MST). During the Live event, we will go over all the information we currently have, provide a trip overview, and allow the opportunity for questions.
