It's Time to Pack!

You’ve hit the register button!! Iceland! Costa Rica! Japan! New Zealand! Drag out the suitcase, it’s time to pack!

Packing for a Global Adventure vacations doesn’t have to be stressful if you follow these tips for packing light. You really need less than you think. For my Global Adventure vacation, I carefully packed a 20" carry-on (42L) and the day bag provided by Vacation Races with my essential items for traveling. Here's a breakdown of what and how I packed. Surprisingly, even with all the items I brought, I still didn't need everything!

Carry-on Luggage

Race Gear

I start with my running gear because, well, we’re going on a running trip. For warmer climate trips, I pack three running shorts, four short sleeve shirts/tank tops, three sports bras, one pair of leggings, one long sleeve top, and a cooling towel.

For cooler weather trips, I pack three leggings, the same number of short-sleeve tops and sports bras, one pair of running shorts, two long-sleeve shirts, and two base-layer tops.

I always bring two pairs of socks and one pair of underwear for each day of the trip. I pack one pair of trail shoes into my carry-on with my wet bag, my laundry bag, and 4-5 Ziplock bags.

If you like lists more than reading, here is a quick overview of the race gear that I pack.

  • 3-4 bottoms (shorts or leggings depending on climate)
  • 4 short sleeve tops
  • 1-2 long sleeve tops
  • 3 sports bras
  • 2 base-layer tops (for cooler climates only)
  • Cooling towel (for warmer climates only)

Tip: Roll your clothes

I roll all of my running clothes and pack them into a travel cube to save space.
