Escape To The Peaceful Shenandoah! Run through beautiful scenery, quiet farm roads, and a gorgeous finish at the lake!

The Course

Our Shenandoah is a scenic road race near Shenandoah National Park. We’ll start at Hawksbill Recreation Park in Stanley, VA and end at Lake Arrowhead Recreation Park in Luray. This is a challenging uphill course with great scenery, quiet farm roads, hilly roads in the foothills, and a gorgeous finish at the lake!

We'll have parking at both the start and finish lines, with shuttles taking runners to the start in the morning, and back to their cars after the end of the race. This course will give you the perfect taste of Shenandoah before you head into the park for a weekend of exploration!

Bib & Packet Pickup

You have 3 options for picking up your bib:

1. Pickup at the expo (recommended)
2. Pickup at the start line ID required
3. Mailed 2 weeks before the race ($30)

Registration includes, a bib, race guide, race shirt, a hydrapouch (if chosen), a finishers medal and a finisher's food box.

Bring Your Own Bag

In our ongoing effort to eliminate waste we encourage you to bring your own bag to hold your bib, race shirt, and any goodies you pick up at the expo.

Traveling to Shenandoah

Where to Stay

The most convenient (and fun) place to stay at the race is the Vacation Races Campground, which we’ll set up by the finish line! The campground (marked in yellow) will be available Thursday through Sunday. If you don’t have a tent, then you can also rent one from us. You’ll be able to reserve your camping spot when you register for the race!

If camping isn't your speed, we recommend looking for hotels in the following nearby towns:

Luray
Stanley
New Market
Front Royal

Race Day

We'll have lots of free parking at both the start line (Hawksbill Recreation Park in Stanley, VA) and the finish line (Lake Arrowhead Recreation Park in Luray, VA), with shuttles taking runners to the start in the morning, and back to their cars after the end of the race. Here's a tentative schedule of events for race day:

5:00 am – Finish Line and Start Line Parking Opens
5:15 am – Raffles Begin at Start Line (one every five minutes)
5:30 am – First Shuttles Leave to Start Line/ Finish Line Parking Close
6:00 am – Last Shuttle Leaves to Start Line
6:30 am – Start Line Parking Closes
6:45 am – Runners Line Up/Last Call For Gear Check
7:00 am – RACE STARTS
9:45 am – Awards Ceremony

When you finish the race, you'll grab a snack box, take some pictures, hang out and make friends for a while, and then we encourage you to go explore Shenandoah National Park!

How to: Defer to a future race

New Deferral Process: As of February 1st, 2023 we are updating our deferral process. After deferring from a race, your deferral will appear as a voucher credit in your RunSignup user profile and will automatically be applied to any future race registration.

The process of deferment breaks into two main parts: deferring the race and applying the resulting voucher credit to a new race. Please read these instructions thoroughly before deferring.

Step 1: Defer Registration

Sign In to RunSignUp
Go to your Profile
Click My Registered Races
Click Manage next to the event you are signed up for
Click the Defer Registration menu item
Click Confirm Deferral
A new screen will appear with your voucher credit information and expiration date.

You've completed step one - there is now a voucher credit associated with your account. This voucher credit will be automatically applied to your next race registration. You can view your existing voucher credits in your RunSignup User Profile under Financial Links.

The Complete Deferral results screen will show you your voucher code. This code will be automatically applied to your next registration.

NOTE: Once your registration is deferred, you no longer qualify for a refund.

Step 2: Use your Voucher Credit

It's time to apply your voucher credit to a new registration!

Begin the standard registration process for your new race in RunSignup.
When you reach the payment page your voucher credit will appear in your cart.

Want to use the credit? Simply finish your registration payment with the voucher credit automatically applied.
Not seeing your voucher credit automatically? Don't worry - you can manually add it. Scroll down for instructions on how to find your voucher credit.
Want to save your credit for later? Click the "Remove Voucher" button and proceed with your payment.

How to Find Your Voucher Credit

To view your existing vouchers head to one of these locations in your RunSignup Profile. You will be able to view the dollar amount of your voucher credit, when it was created, when it expires, and the code that can be applied to any registration.

Go to your Profile
Click Deferrals
If you have an existing deferrals they will appear here
Click View Deferral Credit

Go to your Profile
Scroll to the bottom of the page
Click My Vouchers at the bottom of the list in the Financial Links section

Add a Voucher Credit to Your Registration Manually

Proceed with your registration until you reach the Registration Payment screen.
Click on the Add Voucher button inside the Registration Cart
Type in the voucher credit code that is listed in your RunSignup Profile
Check that the voucher credit has been applied to your registration total and you're all set!
