Overview

We will have a designated Shuttle Navigator on each of the buses to help the driver navigate to the start line. We are contracting 40 shuttle buses for this race. The Shuttle Navigators will each make 2 trips on the bus up to the start line.  

Several of the buses will head to Recreation Point, Miller's Landing, the Pines, and the Forks to pick up runners. Once we have Shuttle Navigators assigned to that set of buses, they will immediately leave to drive to those pick-up locations. Each of those buses will only pick up once from those locations. After making the first trip to the starting line, all buses will come back to Oakhurst for the second trip.

Please arrive promptly at 3:20am to receive your bus assignment from Lyle.

Logistics

We will be able to get everyone to the start line in two trips. Here is the general breakdown.

1. All Shuttle Navigators will report to High School Road Shuttle Navigator Parking & Loading (on the left just past Oakhurst Elementary) at 3:20 am. 

2. Shuttle Navigators will be assigned a shuttle and will board their assigned shuttle at 3:45 am. 

3. Shuttle Navigator will ride with the driver to their designated pick-up location. 

4. Runners will start boarding the shuttles at 4:20 am. This is the first group.

5. The shuttle will transport the first trip of runners to the start line. Arriving at the start line at around 5:15 am.

6. The shuttles will depart the start line and will go to pick up the second group of runners in Oakhurst. All shuttles should return to Oakhurst.

7. Shuttles pick up the second group of runners and transport them to the start line.

8. After the second group is transported to the start line, Shuttle Navigators may exit the shuttle and get ready for their race.

Make sure you download the map while you have cell service and before race morning.

To help the drivers find their way to the start line, we are using a free navigation app, Avenza, that will work even while in Airplane mode. This will help guarantee nobody gets lost. We recommend downloading the free Avenza app (available for iOS, and Android devices) before the event. There you can find our uploaded maps that work without cell coverage.

Here's how to use the app:

1. Download the free app "AVENZA MAPS" to your smart-phone or tablet while your device is online. It’s compatible with iOS, Android, and Windows devices.

2. Open the app > Tap "Store" (Shopping Cart Icon) > Tap "Find Maps" > Search for the specific distance you would like to download. Type your search exactly as it appears: "Yosemite Shuttle Drivers"

Dry Run (Thursday & Friday)

Please do your best to come for a dry run on Thursday or Friday promptly at 1:00pm. We will drive the route to the starting line using the Avenza App to make sure you all know the route. Please bring your own vehicle and plan to drive the route following the dry run leader (Lyle Anderson).
