Director of People and Culture Position Overview
The Director of People & Culture (DPC) at Vacation Races (VR) will own staff development and cultural stewardship, in addition to owning staffing and leadership initiative programs within our culture. As a key member of the Leadership Team, the DPC will act as an advisor & collaborate with all positions at the company in designing people practices, shaping and defining the culture to align with our mission & values. This role is key to ensuring our business strategies support the vision for the future of our organization.
This is a hands-on role frequently transitioning from tactical to strategic work, keeping the bigger picture in mind while executing on the details. In cultivating a healthy community within the entire VR team, the DPC will work with staff to facilitate development needed to be successful in their roles. This will require a high degree of coaching across all levels - from entry-level employees to middle managers to the Chief Executive Officer.

The Director of People and Culture will collaborate with the leadership and already established VR teams to support the hiring (that are intended to secure talented staff) and onboarding process for new staff while continuing to be a resource for personal development and creating a supportive culture that inspires creativity and motivates all employees to be their best selves. The DPC will be responsible for developing the leadership skills of all team members throughout the company.

Key Responsibilities for the Director of People and Culture
- 1Work with the CEO to drive the future of Leadership & Culture at Vacation Races.
- 2Assist in establishing measurable standards company-wide in the form of KPIs and OKRs.
- 3Drive and manage the hiring process to secure talented employees and contractors world-wide.
- 4Manage the onboarding of new hires to ensure they have the tools, guidance, and resources to be successful.
- 5Develop relationships with all employees and key contractors, in an effort to become a trusted resource.
- 6Meet regularly with key staff to continue to be an available resource for personal development.
- 7Develop and implement strategies to nurture a positive and cohesive company culture that aligns with our mission, vision, and values.
- 8Develop the company’s performance review process to result in faster and more impactful feedback.
- 9Educate and lead the company on efficiency and effectiveness strategies.
- 10Champion efforts to make diversity and inclusion endemic to all staff roles and responsibilities and throughout our events. Work to ensure that our events and the entire VR community are welcoming and accessible to participants of all backgrounds and abilities.
- 11Facilitate and help organize all non-event in-person meetings, including the annual company retreat. This includes facilitation of content as well as all logistical arrangements.
